Harnessing the power of community engagement in research

About this event

The European Centre for Environment and Human Health (ECEHH) would like to invite you to explore the benefits of "Harnessing the power of community engagement in research"

For more than a decade the European Centre for Environment and Human Health has worked to put the complex relationships between people and the environment at the top of local, national and international agendas.

This year's Peninsula Forum will focus on the power of community engagement when used as part of world-class research.

Discover how our pioneering research and collaborative approach is identifying solutions to benefit both nature and people and influencing local, national and international policy change.

The Agenda

Co-designing a local Climate Adaptation Tool: Assoc. Prof Emma Bland will take you through how a partnership between the ECEHH, Cornwall Council and supported by a wide range of local stakeholders led to the development of The Local Climate Adaption Tool (LCAT).

Working with businesses to innovate solutions: Antony Brown from Then Try This will share highlights from their recent project funded by Smartline looking at how sensor data and visualisation software can be used to test and measure air pollution in Cornwall.

Citizen Science approaches to Air Quality: Dr Siân de Bell will talk about EXPO-ENGAGE, a research project looking at the impact of taking part in air quality citizen science on environment engagement.

Community action against plastic pollution: Emily Stevenson, PhD student, will be discussing how local Cornish communities are tackling the global issues of plastic pollution and mental health issues among young/vulnerable people.

Working together whilst apart: Dr Shruti Raghuraman, The Inclusivity Project’s Research Fellow, will take you through how to develop a new hybrid culture collaboratively and introduce you to the Hybrid Working Toolkit.

Making home sensor data meaningful: Dr Tim Walker, Research Fellow on the Smartline Project, will share learnings on co-designing a bespoke digital dashboard with our Smartline participants, to help people understand sensor data more easily so that they can take informed action.
